Touchdev Limited, a private U.K. company, is the developer of an array of internally-derived and copyrighted gaming software products, with wireless PDA and cellular-phone-based capabilities. Touchdev has created 12 different games, including Texas Hold'em Poker (touchpoker.com). Brad Thomas, owner of Touchdev, stated, "This will be a fusion of two highly complementary technology companies. At Touchdev, we have created world-class play-for-fun poker software for mobile devices, and Diamond I is at the forefront of wireless gaming development. We see Diamond I as being very well placed to generate substantial value from our TouchPoker technology in the marketplace. So what exactly is wrong with gambling? Well, the problem is that some people gamble irresponsibly. Meaning they wager money they just don’t have. The potential gain takes control of their fragile intelligence. They lose control, and even sanity. This is unfortunate, because gambling is really fun and entertaining.
I personally like to gamble. If I have extra money, sometimes I go see a movie, a theatre show, play golf, go carting, go to theme parks, or anywhere else where I can have fun and decompress. The casino is no different than any other activity I just motioned. Why? Because in every case, I pay an entry fee and have fun. The healthy gambler should too be responsible enough to limit himself to a fixed entry fee depending on his or her financial status.
So my advice to every gambler in the world, Fix yourself an entry fee. If by chance or skill you win money, consider it a bonus. When your entry fee has been lost, be responsible enough to go home with the satisfaction of having played a good game. Be content and entertained. Go home with your chin up, love your spouse and spend time your family.
And remember, gambling is just an entertainment.

Both limit and no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em are wonderful games. Each game provides unique opportunities in nearly every single hand and subtle complexities that can take more than a lifetime to master. However, each game emphasizes different skill sets in order to master it. Limit Texas Hold ‘Em is both an art and a science. However, the structured betting emphasizes the science aspect of the game. Likewise, no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em is also both an art and a science, but the absence of structured betting emphasizes the art aspect of the game. Ultimately, I believe good poker players should excel at both versions of the game (as well as many other variations of poker), but I think that beginning players should initially focus on limit Texas Hold ‘Em before moving on to no-limit.
Despite this recommendation, please do not mistake limit Texas Hold ‘Em as an easier game than no-limit. The skill required to win an additional bet (or more likely save an additional bet) in a hand is extremely high and your profits from limit Hold ‘Em come from those extra bets.
I make this recommendation for a number of reasons. One, limit Texas Hold ‘Em forces beginning players to learn all of the basics of Texas Hold ‘Em such as starting hand requirements, pot odds, and implied odds. Many of these same concepts are less critical in no-limit Hold ‘Em (as I am sure many of you have seen on TV). However, please do NOT fool yourself. These same players you see on TV raising ten-two unsuited have already mastered the underlying fundamentals (starting hand requirements, reading the texture of the flop, pot/implied odds, basic strategy).
Two, since limit Hold ‘Em is more of a science, it lends itself to more rules that beginners can rely on. As you progress in your limit career, you will uncover more and more exceptions to these rules. However, reliance on rules such as starting hand requirements and pot/implied odds can transform a beginning limit player from a significant loser to a winner. Please note, in short-handed limit games the rules have less significance so please stick to 9 to 11 man, limit Hold ‘Em while learning.
Three, expert players have a much greater advantage over beginning players in no-limit than they do in limit. There are many situations in limit where both the better and the caller are playing correct strategy because of pot odds. In no-limit, this is less likely and usually 1 of the players is making a mistake and more often than not it is the beginning player, not the expert player. Since beginning players are at less of a disadvantage in limit, in only makes sense to transform yourself from a beginning player to an intermediate player at limit Hold ‘Em.
So begin your ascent now. Learn the game! Don’t let your opponents fool you into thinking playing by the book is ignorant. Remember, the majority of your opponents are long-term losers! For starters, I would recommend the Texas Help ‘Em guide (available at www.TexasHelpEm.com) since it consolidates what you need to know and presents it in a manner that is practical to reference by beginning players while actually playing online. It is my experience that most people cannot sit and read a traditional poker text without falling asleep! If you decide the Texas Help ‘Em guide is not right for you, I still strongly recommend that you find the basic limit strategy reading that is.
Once you improve to the point where you have mastered starting hand requirements, pot/implied odds, reading the texture of the board/flop, pot/implied odds, and basic strategy, and are profitable (which you will know because you will record all of your winnings and losses per session, right???), you then have several options available.
Move Up in Stakes
This is how to progress from a low-limit player to a mid-limit player to a fill-in-the-blank here. It is important to never go bankrupt. Never play at stakes that jeopardize your bankroll. It is also important to note that winning strategy often changes at mid-level and higher stakes so I would not recommend moving up too high until after you have read and understand several advanced limit Hold ‘Em books.
Play 6-Man Limit Hold ‘Em
6-man Limit Hold ‘Em provides for a much faster, and often more entertaining game. However, please be warned that as mentioned earlier, the skill set required for short-handed games varies greatly from that of 9-11 man games. Beginning players simply do NOT do well in short-handed games so avoid these games until you are at least an intermediate level player and have read several books on advanced limit Hold ‘Em strategies.
Play No-Limit Hold ‘Em
Now that you have mastered the basic (and essential) fundamentals Hold ‘Em (starting hand requirements, reading the texture of the board, pot/implied odds, basic strategy), you are in good position to begin learning no-limit Hold ‘Em. As I recommend with limit Hold ‘Em, I would encourage you to pick-up a text on no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em for beginners. I must caution you in advance that many of the recommendations will be that it depends on what you think he has, what you think he thinks you have, on what you think he thinks you think he has…Get it? Rules do not apply as much to no-limit which makes it a more difficult game to teach in a book so please be cautious.

Texas Help 'Em - An Online Player's Guide to Low-Limit Texas Hold 'Em
gambling press releases
Pittsburgh has a tough row to hoe this season, the Steelers only have five games on the 2005 docket against 2004 playoff teams but four of those affairs take place on the road and that includes Monday Night road games at San Diego and at Indianapolis, overall the Steelers will play 10 of their 16 games against teams that posted .500 records or better last year, thus the reason for the projected drop off in regular season wins.
Like most teams Pittsburgh lost quite a bit of talent to free agency, most notably the Steelers lost a total of five linemen along their offensive and defensive fronts which could cause depth problems if the ole injury bug hits and those losses were in addition to star WR Plaxico Burress departing to the big apple to play catch with Eli Manning.
Baltimore has a very favorable schedule with regard to playing seven games against playoff teams from a year ago, however, five of those seven affairs will take place in Baltimore and two of those games are against dome teams (Vikes and Colts). The Ravens drafted WR Mark Clayton out of Oklahoma and overall had the best draft of any team in the AFC North, the free agent addition of WR Derrick Mason from the Titans along with the drafting of WR Clayton should bolster a stagnant Raven passing attack that was fully exposed last season.
The Bengals finished 2004 with an 8-8 straight up record for the second straight year under HC Marvin Lewis, Bengal faithful should be overjoyed with their seasonal finishes over the past couple of years when considering that these same Bengals posted a total of 8 wins combined during their 2001 and 2002 campaigns.
With QB Carson Palmer starting his second full season under center and weapons WR Chad Johnson and RB Rudi Johnson happy with new contracts, Cincinnati has all of the pieces on offense to make the playoffs in 2005, the Bengal’s major malfunction during their 2004 campaign was their run defense but the drafting of Georgia DE David Pollack who will play LB for the Bengals and Georgia LB Odell Thurman should correct that problem.
A new era starts in Cleveland Brownie land with the arrival of new HC Romeo Crennell who replaces ousted Butch Davis, the Brownies are actually an expansion team once again when considering that they have a totally new front office, totally new coaching staff and have replaced most of their offensive and defensive starters, the saving grace is that the new QB will be experienced retread Trent Dilfer who should be able to provide much needed leadership.
The Brownies added a lot of talent via the free agent market and actually had a pretty good draft which was highlighted with WR Braylon Edwards as their top choice, but in the big scheme of things there has been way too much turnover in this organization to expect much in 2005, look to play the Brownies whenever a home doggie of more than a FG after week four of the regular season, by this time the team should start to gel a little and the public won’t be ready for the opportunity.
In closing, the AFC North is a three horse race between Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Baltimore for the top spot, the difference maker will probably be who catches the ole injury bug and who avoids it, with that being said Pittsburgh gets the nod to win the division because of their depth at the QB and RB positions.
With regard to betting opportunities, Pittsburgh played 12 non divisional games in 2004 and went 6-6 ATS in those affairs, a closer look see reveals that the Steelers were a betting underdog in five of the six non divisional games they covered, meanwhile, the Steelers were favorites in five of the six non divisional games they failed to cover.
In other words as a dog playing a non divisional game the Steelers were virtually a sure bet to cover the spread, however, as a favorite in a non divisional game the Steelers had a tough time getting it up and hence proved to be almost a sure bet to NOT cover the posted number, a check backward in time reveals that these Steelers have failed to cover 6 of the past 7 times they have taken to the road as a favorite of six points or less against a non divisional opponent…things that make you go hmmmmm!!

The Patriots play seven games this season against 2004 playoff teams and four of those affairs will take place on the road, the Patriots also lost a lot of talent such as WR David Patton, OG Joe Andruzzi, and CB Ty Law via free agency and very well could be without their defensive leader LB Tedy Bruschi whose status is uncertain following an off season stroke, then there is the matter of the Patriots winning three of the past four Super Bowls, meaning that the Patriots have played nine post season games above and beyond the normal sixteen game regular season schedule over the past four years and have had to deal with all of the off season commitments and hoopla that come with winning the big game, also, don’t forget that the team that wins the Super Bowl is in the least best position come draft time, meaning that the “Fresh Blood” talent pool on the Patriots has depleted due to their success.
The saving grace for the Patriots in the AFC East comes from the fact that the Jets did not help themselves a whole lot in the draft other than taking Kicker Mike Nugent out of Ohio State with their top selection, like the Patriots, the Jets also lost a lot of talent via free agency with the departure of starters WR Santana Moss, TE Anthony Becht, RT Kareem McKenzie, and DT Jason Ferguson, however, the greatest loss to free agency for the Jets may turn out to be RB Lamont Jordan who could have stepped in quite nicely if 32 year old RB Cutis Martin goes down to injury.
However, the Jets were smart enough to pick up former Dolphin QB Jay Fiedler to back up starting QB Chad Pennington who has been injury prone as of late, Jet HC Herm Edwards replaced his offensive coordinator Paul Hackett with former Titan offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger which will be interesting because Heimerdinger likes to throw the deep ball, meanwhile, Pennington is fresh off shoulder surgery and is better suited for the west coast style of short ball passing.
Buffalo finished the 2004 season strong down the stretch in winning 8 of 9 games before losing their final game of the season at home to the Steelers, however, that season ending loss to Pittsburgh was costly as it proved to be a difference maker in deciding who went to the playoffs and who stayed at home, the Bills are indeed a team on the rise with a really good defense and excellent special teams, however, they probably booted QB Drew Bledsoe out of town a year too early and will be starting last years #1 draft pick JP Losman in his place which of course means some growing pains this season for the young QB.
Miami finished the 2004 season with a shoddy 4-12 record but like Buffalo looks to be a team on the rise in the AFC East, I won't be foolhardy enough to predict a playoff berth after a four win season but I do see major improvement for the Dolphins this season and think a seven or eight win season is not out of the realm of possibility when considering that the Dolphins now have Nick Saban at the helm as their new HC.
Unlike Steve Spurrier when he made his NFL debut with the Skins, Nick Saban was smart enough to go out and get experienced NFL assistants, Saban brought in former Viking offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to run the offense and former Charger coach Hudson Houck to run the defense, Saban also engineered one of the best drafts of any team in the league, look for former Auburn RB Ronnie Brown to make an immediate impact.
In closing, the Patriots finished up 2004 with an impressive 13-5-1 ATS mark on the heels of posting a 14-4-1 ATS mark in 2003, can New England once again dominate the spread wars in 2005? Probably so, but not to the extent of the past couple of seasons, you see my friend “Joe Public” type bettors will in all likelihood view the Patriots as a “Go against” team in 2005 due to the loss of Weis and Crennel, however, Belichick is still the HC and Tom Brady is still the QB under center.
With that being said I would recommend making a play on the Patriots whenever they are receiving points in a doggie role, not much value will be had this season with the Jets, meanwhile, both Buffalo and Miami will be unpredictable during the first eight weeks of the season due to the fact that both teams will have new starting QB’s under center and both teams have weaknesses up front on the offensive line, in Miami's case their players have to learn new schemes on both sides of the ball due to a whole new coaching staff.

MISTAKE NUMBER ONE
Failure to Use Betting Banks
Most gamblers fail to understand that the best method of achieving a healthy and sustained long term profit from racing and betting in general is to set aside a sum of money away from your main finances, solely for betting purposes.
Whatever method or system you are using, whoever you are following or subscribing to or however your own bets are calculated, you are better off with a "Betting Bank" that has built -in advantages that can help you. It needs to be independent from your own personal finances and needs to be protected from factors that can threaten it. This can take a lot of emotion out of the decision making process. Emotion is a factor that threatens all punters.
The size of your betting bank will of course be dependant upon your own individual circumstances and free capital available. An analogy to the world of shares perhaps may be that no financial advisor worth his salt would advise you throw all your capital into the stock market alone.
The vast majority of punters fail to use any form of set aside bank. They bet randomly with what ever money they have in their pocket at the end of the week or go in too deep with stakes far in excess of their personal safety levels.
A punter with a professional attitude will set aside what he can comfortably afford to invest and then determine the best use he can make of that fixed sum of capital.
With a fixed sum of capital available you now move on to the next reason for failure.

The most obvious one is the -0.5 Asian Handicap (AH) and the straight win on the 1X2 market. You are betting on exactly the same thing if you take these bets. As the margin is lower on the AH, its almost always best to take the AH. It baffles me why some bookmakers put the bets adjacent on a coupon with different prices.
A draw no bet is the same as an AH of +0. Again, the AH is usually the best. However, if one team is highly backed on the AH the odds may drop and betting on the draw no bet is better value.
Unders/ overs, goal line and total goals are sometimes the same. There's one bookmaker I know that offers all three of these on the same coupon but sometimes at different prices. I've seen 3 or more goals on the total goals market priced better than the overs on a goal line of 2.5. They are exactly the same bet.
An X2 double chance is the same as laying the home win on Betfair. As Betfair operates with a margin of 2.5% (5% commission but you will on average lose half), its going to always be better to lay the bet on Betfair than taking the bet on X2. Some double chance bets are the same as the AH. Take the best odds.
A +1 European Handicap is exactly the same as a +0.5 Asian Handicap, which is exactly the same as laying the team on the 1X2 market. I've seen times when European Handicap has offered the best value. As this market is the smallest, the prices don't move if a bookie gets in wrong. I once found an arbitrage that paid 10% using a European Handicap. The price didn't move at all because not many people bet on it.
No first goal scorer is almost the same as 0-0. NFGS is slightly better as own goals do not count. It doesn't happen often but as these markets pay the same odds, its best to go with the NFGS bet. Djimi Traore scored an own goal when Liverpool played Burnley in the 2004/2005 FA Cup. Liverpool lost the game 1-0. PSV scored an own goal and lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the Champions league the same season. Its rare but it does happen.
I could go on but I expect you to get the message now. Next time you are placing a bet on a soccer match it could pay to just check the odds on other markets.

I had had no real interest in poker until I watched it at a friends house on satellite TV. The tournament was the World Series of Poker and my friend who was a huge fan of poker was explaining the rules as I was watching.
Over the next few months I continued to watch the poker on TV and became more and more interested.
I thought, I could do that and organised a game with a few friends. It was a good evening, even though I ended up losing some money, maybe its not as easy as it looks, I thought to myself.
One day I was discussing my new found interest with a colleague at work. He confirmed that it was also an interest of his and stated that he played poker online.
He described the bonuses involved and the fact you are able to interact with the other players via a chat box, very similar to that of a chatroom.
I decided to check it out for myself and started playing at sporting odds. I now play virtually every day and find it very relaxing.
For me the best thing about online poker is the fact that you can play so many more hands per hour than you can in the house or at a casino.

Baccarat can be considered a very elaborate coin toss game. This oversimplified impression of the game lures many players to using the Martingale based system of betting which entails doubling up on ones' bet each time a hand is lost. The Logic being that you eventually have to win, and the doubling will allow you to recoup all losses made from all the preceding hands! A perfect system indeed and one that actually can't be beaten in games like baccarat or roulette, and it is because of this that casinos issued new rules. The new rules limit how much a player can bet in 1 hand.
Casinos effectively got rid of the threat of the Martingale System gambler or player by setting Table maximums (and minimums). i.e. A player bets $5 on the banker and lost. Next bet, $10 on the banker, next bet $20, etc, and he continues to lose. Before long, his bet will have doubled up to a point that it will exceed the table maximum. In this case the player can't bet any higher and his system has failed, he must quit. The Martingale System is a horrific betting system that follows a human beings panic thinking - their natural thought pattern that somehow believes that if a coin lands heads up 9x in a row, there is a greater chance than 50% that it will land tails on the 10th flip! IT DOES NOT WORK!
So - if all these strategies and systems - card counting, pattern spotting, streak spotting etc are worthless strategies for baccarat - is there any good one? Well...practically and mathematically speaking... when you analyse the numbers, the odds do seem to always be in favour when a player bets on the banker, though this is a very boring tactic to play. Perhaps throw in some pattern chasing to break the tedium, or count the scorecards!

Start Small
Begin playing with small stakes. This might seem obvious to most but my experience has shown me two things. One, many players start small, say .25/.50 limit Hold ‘Em, but then lose patience or even worse, go on TILT, and rapidly increase the stakes they play well before they can concretely determine their win rate, or more likely, loss-rate. I recommend players to start at a level they consider small, but large enough to make them care about the results. If a player is a millionaire (lucky them), playing .25/.50 limit Hold ‘Em simply may not interest them enough to concentrate and apply the proper strategies to learn the game properly. However, for those of us less fortunate, games as low as .25/.50 are available and provide good mediums to tune your skills at Texas Hold 'Em. For most people, something between .25/.50 and $1/$2 should provide a good starting point.
Also, I do not recommend beginners to tune their game at free chip tables. Although these tables are good places to learn the rules of the game and practice reading the board, these tables typically play significantly looser than real money games, even low stakes real money games. It is not uncommon to see 5 or more players in a showdown with raises all the way through. This is nearly unheard of in a money game. Although loose games are occasionally found in money games, they are the exception, and should not be used as a baseline for assessing a player's game as a beginner.
Play Tight, Tight, and More Tight
Poker pros continually promote tight, aggressive play as the key to success at Texas Hold ‘Em. I agree with this completely. However, tight play becomes even more important for a player still learning to become profitable. Tight play reduces the number of tough decisions a player will have to make. More importantly, it will keep the player out of many 2nd place hands. Dominated hands, such as A6, put you in a very difficult situation when an ace flops. An experienced player may be able to play these hands profitably, but for an inexperienced player, the best advice is to limit such situation by playing extremely tight and avoiding these situations as much as possible. The Texas Help 'Em guide is one resource that can assist you in playing tight while learning low-limit Texas Hold 'Em (available at www.TexasHelpEm.com). If you decide this guide is not for you, I strongly recommend you find the guide that is so you can jumpstart your ascent towards profitability. As you climb the experience curve and improve at judging your opponents relative hand strengths, you can explore loosening up your play. However, this opens the door to many more advanced concepts. I do not believe these concepts should be explored by a beginning player until after you have proven to be a profitable, tight, low-limit Hold ‘Em player. You have to learn to walk before you learn to run.

That is the question on everyone's mind as the 2005 World Series of Poker enters its third round with only 272 top poker players remaining.
Of the over 5600 entrants who entered the esteemed Las Vegas held tournament at a buy-in of $10 000 each, most walked away with nothing as only the last 560 players qualify for cash prizes.
However, for those players whose luck and skill saw them survive the first four gruelling days, the big prize is still very much on the horizon as they continue to battle it out in no-limit Texas Hold 'em poker.
Their objective is a common one - to make to the final table of nine players and beat out the opposition to walk away the winner of the 2005 tournament and $7.5 million richer.
The current chip leader is Las Vegas resident, Rod Pardey Jr who is sitting on just over $700 000 in chips. Still in the picture is the resilient Greg 'Fossilman' Raymer, who won last year's WSOP. His stack is about $700 000. 1994 WSOP victor, Russ Hamilton, is also still in the running.
Other big poker names remaining in the field include Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Mike Matusow, Layne Flack and Paul Darden.

One would expect that with the Eagles posting a straight up record of 54-20 over the past four seasons that they would eventually have a bad draft due to having to choose from the draft leftovers, however, that has not been the case as the Eagles once again had a pretty good draft which is a testament to just how good HC Andy Reid is with regard to being able to wheel and deal in the draft as well as his ability to pick talent.
The Eagles weren’t all that active in the free agent market but were able to snag a quality backup QB in Mike McMahon from Detroit who became expendable when the Lions picked up QB Jeff Garcia. It should be no surprise that the Lions picked up Garcia when considering that Garcia was Detroit HC Steve Mariucci’s QB when both were in San Francisco.
Cowboy HC Bill Parcells used free agency to bring in RB Anthony Thomas to backup Julius Jones and also snagged QB Drew Bledsoe to run his offense for 2005, however, Parcells main focus during the off season was to fix what ailed his defense which allowed 406 points in 2004. Parcells appears to have been successful with a quality draft head lined by picking up DE Demarcus Ware, DE Marcus Spears and LB Kevin Burnett with his top three selections in the draft.
Overall Parcells had an excellent draft and used six of his eight draft selections on defensive players which should serve to shore up a shaky pass rush which allowed opposing QB’s time to toss 31 TD’s last year. The Giants threw last season away by using QB Eli Manning under center earlier than they probably should have, however, the playing experience gained in 2004 should serve Manning well this season and especially since QB Kurt Warner is now in Arizona which means that Manning will not be looking over this shoulder.
The Giants only had four draft choices which was the fewest amount in franchise history, however, they were able to pick up CB Corey Webster out of LSU in the second round, Webster should have been a top 10 or top 15 pick but fell to the Giants with the overall 43rd pick in the draft due to injuries sustained in College, the G-Men used free agency to bring in QB Tim Hasselbeck to back up Manning and signed a go-to WR in former Steeler Plaxico Burress for Manning to play catch with.
By not addressing glaring needs on offense Washington appears set to bring up the rear in the NFC East for 2005, last year Skin HC Joe Gibbs brought in former Jag QB Mark Brunell to run his offense, however in the nine games Brunell started last year he only completed 49.79% of his passes and at seasons end finished with a QB rating of 63.90.
In contrast QB Patrick Ramsey started seven games in 2004 and completed 62.13% of his tosses which was good enough to post a QB rating of 74.8, the Skins used their second draft selection on QB Jason Campbell out of Auburn which was probably a bit of a reach as Campbell will need lots of work, however, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Patrick Ramsey will be the starting QB for 2005.
Regardless of whether the Skins decide to go with either Mark Brunell or Patrick Ramsey at QB for 2005, Washington still needs to fix their offensive line play which was atrocious to say the least and was the main reason for the Skins averaging a meager 15 points scored per contest last year.
The Skin defense appeared set to be the bright spot for this team once again in 2005, however, the arrest of safety Sean Taylor on gun charges, the free agent loss of CB Fred Smoot and the off season ankle injury/stress fracture to top draft choice CB Carlos Rogers leaves that open to debate.
In closing the Eagles posted an overall mark of 15-4 straight up and 12-7 ATS last year, I fully expect to see the public back these Eagles in most outings in 2005, however, a check of last season shows that 3 of the Eagles 4 straight up losses occurred against AFC teams and 4 of the Eagles 7 spread losses came against the AFC.
A check of the past three seasons reveals the fact that Philly has only lost a total of 14 games in this time frame, however, 7 of those 14 losses came at the hands of AFC teams, and to think that in the past three years these Eagles only played AFC teams a total of 13 times!!
This of course leads me to believe that 2005 road games at Kansas City and at Denver might very well be prime spots to go against Philly and especially if the Eagles are installed as road favorites when considering that the Eagles have gone 4-9 ATS overall against AFC teams over the past three seasons, in road games (not counting the SB) against AFC teams during this same time span Philly posted a mark of 2-4 ATS.
I would be careful in picking my spots with regard to Dallas, New York, and Washington this season until after the fourth game of the year because of the QB situation at each location, with that being said keep an eye on the Cowboys who could very well end up being the surprise team in this division as well as in the NFC this year if QB Drew Bledsoe can remain healthy and the Dallas defense shapes up like I think they will.

Event #23 "Seven Card Stud" had a happy Jan Sorensen from Denmark ready to take home $293,275 and a bracelet for winning this tournament. Event #24 "No Limit Hold'Em" was won by the very serious, solid playing Farzad Bonyadi who earned $594,960 for the effort. In Event #25 "Pot-Limit Hold'Em", Johnny Chan won his 10th WSOP bracelet breaking a 3-way tie with him, Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth Jr., setting a record in the process. Johnny picked up a hefty $303,025 as well. Actress Jennifer Tilly turned heads again by winning Event #26 "Ladies No-Limit Hold'Em". She actually dominated final table play against top women poker players in the world to win $158,335 and a bracelet you can't buy in a store anywhere. Expect no less from the girlfriend of Phil "Unabomber" Laak. Phil Ivey overcame a determined Robert Williamson III to win Event #27 "Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys" earning his 5th gold WSOP bracelet and $630,685. Dan Schmiech won $404,585 by winning against actor Gabe Kaplan in the Event #28 "Limit Hold'em" tournament. Event #29 "No Limit Hold'Em" has Lawrence Gosney as this years champion pocketing $483,195 for the win. Now Event #30 "Seven Card Razz" is actually a little tough to understand and play, but O'Neil Longson proved he could do it and took home $125,690 as proof.
The 3-way tie Johnny Chan broke earlier became a tie again as Doyle Brunson won the Event #31 "No-limit Hold'Em (Short Handed 6/table)" tournament earning his 10th WSOP bracelet and $367,800 once again showing how his legendary reputation was earned. Event #32 "Omaha High-Low Split" was won by David Chiu taking home his 4th bracelet and $347,410. Andre Boyer, a poker analyst for TV station Le Réseau des Sports in Quebec won Event #33 "No Limit Hold'Em" who's skill was rewarded with a $682,810 payday. Event #34 "Seniors No Limit Hold'Em" has a new champion who's name is Paul McKinney. Paul, who is 80 years old, can relax in the sun after depositing $202,725 in his bank account. Rafi Amit won Event #35 "Pot Limit Omaha" and $511,835 after becoming victorious in a heads up battle with Vinny Vinh.
A dominate Todd Witteles won Event #36 "Limit Hold'em" knocking out opponents left and right to take home the bracelet and $347,385. Event #37 "No Limit Hold'Em with Rebuys" was won by Jon Heneghan taking home $611,015 in the process. Event #38 was a super satellite tournament for seats to the Main Event, so no prize pool or list of winners was produced. Event #39 "No Limit 2 to 7 Draw Lowball with Rebuys" had David Grey as the champion who was heralded with $365,135. Event #40 was also a super satellite like #38 so there is nothing to report unfortunately. When it came time for raising money for charity, the media and celebrities in Event #41 showed up at the tables. Randy Bowman of the media won $10,000 for the Noblesville Boys and Girls Club.
Event #42 is the WSOP Main Event, the big tournament where millionaires are born. This year the first place prize was $7,500,000 and every person who made the final table became a millionaire guaranteed. 5,619 entrants competed in the tournament making it the largest in WSOP history. In fact it was so large that it had to be spread out over 9 days. 2004 champion Greg Raymer made it up to 25th place before elimination, receiving $304,680 for his efforts. But it was Joseph Hachem who became champion for this year, pocketing the $7.5 million and a beautiful diamond bracelet that can only be earned by winning the Main Event.
For those who were busted out of the Main Event, they found additional tournaments for play in Events #43, #44 and #45 which were 1 day events. Ron Kirk beat out players like Erik Seidel and Marcel Luske to take home $321,520 for winning the Event #43 "No Limit Hold'Em" tournament. Event #44 "No Limit Hold'Em" was won by John Pires who received $220,935 for his victory. And the Event #45 "No Limit Hold'Em" winner was Willie Tann who happily received his bracelet and $188,335 for 1 day's work! Not bad at all.
Individuals came from across the planet to play in this tournament series. New records were set for attendance, for money won in the WSOP and probably the number of headaches Harrah's had in setting up and running an event of this magnitude. But in the end everyone from the players, the event champions, the media and the staff of Harrah's should be congratulated for creating something to be enjoyed and talked about for years to come.

In my humble opinion online poker rooms have many advantages over land based poker rooms, if compared.
One of the most logical thing to mention first is "no travelling". You don't have to pay for the cab to visit your local casino. It also helps you save time, which means more poker action for you. More poker action simply means that you can play more poker and playing more poker means more game experience and bigger skill.
Online poker rooms usually have bigger selection of games than land based ones and also offer better opportunities to learn the game without you feeling uncomfortable - in the internet everyone is anonymous, so no staring eyes, mean looks or fist shaking.
In the internet you can play multiple tables at once. It increases your win rate and will probably raise your profits too, because you most likely end up playing 200 or more hands per hour. Now, how sick is that - it's 4 times more than in land based poker room!
Also - and that's one of my favorite aspects of online poker - there's no real dealer in online poker rooms. That means no tips and I like it (sorry, dealers and dealerettes!). I recommend you to start counting the money you give away to dealers when playing at a casino - you probably notice that you "donate" more money to dealers than casino edge would take from you anyway, in the long run that is. Also, when there's no dealer, there's no dealer mistakes made.
Even though I mentioned earlier that you can end up playing more than 200 hands per hour, I assure that you have more time to concentrate on your strategy and play without pressure (no external pressures like too sexy dealers or other similar factors).
Online poker rooms also give out bonuses, which rarely happens in land based poker rooms. That means more money and more money means more poker! Have fun!

The first thing to keep in mind is to take some time off to do some google research. There are many watchdogs and webmasters who write online sportsbooks reviews and are active in several different sportsbooks forums around the world. If you notice complaints about certain sportsbook being unable to pay in time, beware. If you notice sportsbook to be blacklisted, forget that bookmaker - better safe than sorry.
We also advise you to check the location of the bookmaker. Always try to make sure that the company is legal and licensed under the government which they operate. There are some bookmakers that have limited accessibility and server uptime because of the government restrictions. Do not deposit there - it's annoying!
Okay, you've finally found a bookmaker and deposited few bucks. Now you have to test the customer service. Write them an e-mail and wait for an answer. If they've promised to be available 24/7 but reality is different, forget about them. You may also want to call them. If they don't have a phone number at all (or it's forwarded to cellphone), your landed on lousy sportsbook that can't be trusted.
Trust is the most important aspect in this business. Even if everything seems to be ok, what does your gut say to you? If you're still not sure, maybe you should stick to well-known land-based sportsbooks, to known brands.

The main idea of sports betting is to defeat so-called oddsmakers in order to win some money. Most sports gamblers use betting services because it makes watching sport much more exciting. That's why your bookmaker or sportsbook has to be best of the best - to maximize your fun.
Reliable bookmakers should accept credit cards. I advise you to have a separate credit card for your sports gambling needs in order to avoid any missunderstanding in the future. Always remember to check the withdrawal fees, because there are some bookmakers out there who charge you up to 50 bucks for paying you the money. Never join these sportsbooks - they are not user friendly.
Very important is to watch out for sportsbooks that almost insist big initial deposits. I don't recommend to join bookmakers who demand $70 or bigger minimun deposit. Every player should have an opportunity to hang around for a while and try the bookmaker out.
Even now, in 21st century there are bookmakers who don't accept singles on all games, which is actually quite sad and makes industry look bad in a way. You should avoid these bookmakers. Some of them accept singles, but still - they don't do it on all events, so they shouldn't qualify for you.
This adds one "must" you have to follow - always read the rules at bookmakers webpage. You even may find out that gamblers from you country are not welcome there. So they accept your money, but there's no possible way to withdraw.
It also doesn't hurt to rely on other players experience. There are webmasters who write reviews and there are also many sportsbook forums out there, that advise players. Check them out.
Safest way, of course, is to stick to known brand.

OK, in my head I'm thinking "but don't you know you have 10 times less chance of winning?"... I do try to be polite about it.
Fact is, lottery organisers love creating games with very long odds. Why? Because it means more rollover jackpots. Which means jackpots which grab newspaper headlines. Which generates more interest and higher ticket sales.
But what's more important -- the media profile of your chosen game? Or your odds of winning the lottery?
Here's a quick reminder of what lottery odds look like.
A standard 6 balls from 49 lottery gives you about a 1 in 13 million chance of winning for each ticket. Long odds yes, but hey this is a lottery! But just hang on a second...
A typical Power Ball type draw is normally 5 balls plus a bonus ball. That may sound easier to win, but it's actually so much harder it hurts! Take the U.S. Power Ball, that's 5 balls from 53 followed by 1 ball from 42 -- fact is your odds are now around 1 in 120 million for the jackpot. That means you have to buy TEN times as many tickets just to have the same chance of winning!
How about EuroMillions? It may at first sound harder to win, but it's actually easier! The Euro game is 5 from 50 plus 2 from 9. But that's actually a 1 in 76 million chance, almost twice as easy to win as the U.S. Power Ball.
The U.S. MegaMillions is far worse. 5 from 56, plus 1 from 46 -- that gives you astounding odds of 1 in 175 million!
There's also a smaller reason to be concerned at big rollovers. If a lot more people play there's a greater chance of multiple winners, which means sharing that enormous jackpot that was harder to win in the first place!
So are power ball type draws just designed to confuse players about lottery odds? Maybe -- but I'll leave that one for the conspiracy theorists. Let's just concentrate on improving your chances of winning the jackpot shall we!
Here's the short, sharp advice for playing more wisely...
Play the game which gives you the best chance of winning a life changing sum of money. Yes, 100 million does look great fun, but would it make your life any different to winning 10 million? Of course not. So why settle for 10 times less chance of actually winning!
So if you play a power ball type draw, the fastest, cheapest, most effective way you can boost your lottery chances right now... is to change the game you are playing.
Are you playing the right lottery?

How about the secrets of hard way betting?
Most crapshooters know that the hard ways have high payoffs - the six or eight pays 9:1 and the four or ten pays 7:1. But hard way numbers (4, 6, 8 & 10) only pay off when two identical numbers are rolled. This means you will only win if 2&2, 3&3, 4&4, or 5&5 are rolled.
The 1&1 (2) or 6&6 (12) do not count as a hard way, because that is the only way they can roll.
If you bet on a hard six, you only win if the combination is 3 & 3. You lose if the combination is 4 & 2, 5 & 1, 2 & 4, and 1 & 5. On a hard eight, you only win if the roll is 4 & 4. You lose if it is 2 & 6, 3 & 5, 5 & 3 and 6 & 2. So of the five ways to make a six or eight, four are soft ways and only one is hard. The hard four must roll 2 & 2 to win. You lose on a 1 & 3 or 3 & 1. The hard ten must roll 5 & 5. You lose on a 4 & 6 or a 6 & 4. So of the three ways to make a 4 or 10, two are soft and only one is hard.
Wanna know how craps pros make money on hard way bets?
Let’s find out!
The true odds of the hard 6/8 are 10:1 but the payoff is only 9:1, giving the casino a 9% edge. And the true odds on the 4/10 are 8:1 but the payoff is only 7:1, giving the casino a 11% edge. But, since the hard 6/8 rolls once and the hard 4/10 also rolls once, why are the odds different? And if each hard number rolls the same amount (one in 36) as the 2 and 12, why aren’t the odds identical? The payoff for the 2/12 is 30:1. Why don’t the hard ways pay higher?
When you place a bet for the 2/12, it is a one roll bet. If any number other the 2/12 rolls, you lose. Their true odds are 35:1, as they each should appear only once in 36 rolls. The hard way bets, however, stay up if anything other than a seven or an easy way rolls. Even though a hard number should roll once in 36 rolls, it stays up more often than the 2/12, which is why the payoff is lower.
Since hard ways stay up until they are hit or lose, it is easy to start a progression with them - just bet $1 each on the hard four, ten, six and eight - a total of only $4 to start out. These hard numbers each should roll once in 36 rolls. If there is a long time between sevens you could win $7 + $7 + $9 +$9 or $32 for a $4 investment.
If the seven (or the soft number) rolls you would increase your bet by $1 and put it back up. So you might have different bets on different numbers. You should also have a 30% win goal and loss limit for this hard way method. If you buy in for $500 you would quit if you win or lose approximately $150.
Some crapshooters try to minimize their losses by calling bets “off” when 6 rolls go by to help minimize sevens. The bets are also off on the come out when everyone is rooting for a seven.
Next time you play, give this hard way progression a try!
Pssst...! Now you know the secrets of hard way betting!

The Arizona Cardinals have posted a mark of 22-42 straight up over the past four seasons which is by far the worst win/loss record of any team in the NFC West, however, that’s all about to change in 2005 as I fully expect these Cardinals to win this division and make the playoffs, remember that you heard it here first!
Cardinal HC Denny Green had another fantastic draft highlighted by picking CB Antrel Rolle and RB J.J. Arrington with his first and second choices followed by selecting CB Eric Green and LB Darryl Blackstock with his third and fourth picks, Rolle and Arrington will in all likelihood be immediate starters while Green and Blackstock will add depth to a defense that improved from 26th overall in 2003 to 12th overall in the league in 2004.
Denny Green got a draft steal in the forth round by picking up OG Elton Brown out of Virginia who may very well be another immediate starter, Brown is a mountain of a man at 6’4 and 339 lbs and was a two time recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy which is given annually to the ACC’s top blocker.
The Cards did very well in the free agent wars by signing two time league MVP Kurt Warner to lead the offense and play catch with WR’s Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin who comprise one of the best WR tandems in the NFL, to help protect Warner in the pocket the Cards signed OG Oliver Ross away from Pittsburgh and for good measure also brought in OT’s Ian Allen and Adam Haayer for added depth.
Arizona has managed to interject a lot of young talent on their roster via excellent drafting as evidenced by the fact that 13 of the Cards 14 draft choices from 2003 and 2004 are on the roster for 2005, and to think that 7 of those 14 draft picks from 2003 and 2004 are starters!
Seattle can’t seem to get out of their own way with regard to posting an overall win/loss mark of 35-31 over the past four years which has led to them being what is referred to as a “middle of the road” team, not bad enough to be in line for higher draft picks but yet not good enough to capitalize on opportunity when it knocks on their door.
The Seahawks finished 2004 with an offense ranked 8th overall in the league but defensively fell from 19th overall in 2003 to 26th overall in 2004, the Hawks really didn’t help themselves too much in the draft and instead concentrated on free agency to shore up their defense as 8 of their 11 free agent signings were defense related as they picked up two DE’s, two LB’s, two CB’s, a DT, and a Safety.
The Hawks brought in WR’s Joe Jurevicius and Jerome Pathon to ease the release of problem child WR Koren Robinson who had an off season DUI, the loss of backup QB Trent Dilfer to Cleveland will hurt the Hawks tremendously if QB Matt Hasselbeck goes down to injury and RB Shaun Alexander is threatening to sit out most of training camp in protest of the Hawks not honoring him with a new deal, ahhhhhhh nothing but problems problems problems for HC Mike Holmgren.
St. Louis by far has the best four year record of any team in this division with a win/loss mark of 44-26, however, the continued bad play calling and terrible clock management by HC Mike Martz has led to this team falling well short of expectations given this teams immense talent level over the past few years.
The Rams have made the playoffs four of the past five years during Martz’s tenure, however, bone headed play calling in 2000 led to a first round loss at the hands of the Saints 31-28 and to think the Rams were 6.5 point road favorites playing at New Orleans, the following season saw these Rams completely out coached when they were installed as 14 point favorites in the Super Bowl against New England but lost 20-17.
2003 saw these Rams once again exit the playoff picture in a 29-23 first round loss to Carolina in a game played at St Louis with the Rams installed as 7 point home favorites, then of course how can we forget the 47-17 pasting the Rams absorbed last season in the playoffs against an Atlanta team that was nowhere near as talented as the Rams?
The Rams had a very average draft and didn’t really help themselves in the free agent wars other than picking up LB’s Dexter Coakley and Chris Claiborne to help shore up a defensive unit that ranked a shoddy 29th in rushing yards allowed in 2004. I fully expect to see these Rams finish below the .500 mark in 2005 and if Georgia is smart she will give Martz the ole boot at seasons end.
The Niners had a pretty good draft but they are still at least two years away from being able to compete for the divisional crown, HC Mike Nolan has already stated that his intention is to go ahead and start the NFL’s first overall draft pick QB Alex Smith under center and let him gain experience, meaning of course that the Niner organization is expecting nothing from this team in 2005 and neither do I.
In closing, obviously I am very high on Arizona this season and expect big things from them in 2005, with that being said I will recommend two “Futures wagers” on the Cardinals,( A.) To win the NFC West and (B.) To go OVER the posted seasonal win/loss total of 7.5.
In addition to the reasoning I laid out above as to why these Cards will win this division its also noteworthy that Arizona will face the league’s 2nd easiest schedule when considering that the Cards 2005 schedule is comprised of teams that tallied a combined straight up win/loss record of 120-147 last year which equates to a winning percentage of only .449.

Select Advantageous Tables
Table selection is one of the most overlooked aspects of winning at poker. It becomes even more important in the world of online play. Unlike brick and mortar games, internet poker minimizes the barriers to switching tables. In addition, many sites provide countless tables to select from. It would be foolish not to exploit table selection to its fullest to help improve your win rate at poker. This holds true regardless of the type of game you are playing, but is extremely lucrative in limit Texas Hold ‘Em because of its current popularity resulting in a large number of tables from which a player can select from. You can sit at a table with three world champions and still make money if the game has a few really poor players in it. The importance of poor players at your table cannot be overstated. This is where the money comes from, everyone else at the table is just arguing over how much of it they should get!
So how do I select an advantageous table? Great question, I was hoping you would ask that! There are several factors such as average pot size, flop percentage, number of players with short-stacks, and number of weak opponents in the game.
Average Pot Size
For starters, many people like to examine the table’s average pot size. Common belief is that the larger the average pot size is, the more lucrative your chances are at this table. Personally, I have found mixed results with this approach. Larger pot sizes sometimes indicate looser and weaker opponents, but many times they simply indicate more aggressive opponents. Aggressive opponents may be maniacs, but they may also be extremely skilled players and differentiating between the two can often be difficult. There are a few more points I would like to add about maniacs. Although they will lose their money in the long-run, playing against a maniac, or multiple maniacs, greatly increases your expected variance. In the long-run, this should work itself out, but many players, particularly learning players, may not want to incur high variances while they learn the game and build their bankroll. Another point on maniacs is that they are tougher opponents to play than less aggressive poor players because they become nearly impossible to put on a hand since they bet and raise with anything. Without any other information to rely on, choosing a table based on its average pot size has some merit, but I think true long-term profits resulting from table selection come from selecting tables with weak players and not simply from selecting tables with high average pot sizes.
Flop Percentage
Personally, I like playing at tables with high flop percentages. I would choose a table with a high flop percentage over a table with a high average pot size any day of the week. High flop percentages indicate that many players are paying to see the flop. This further indicates that these opponents have relatively loose starting hand requirements. This gives tight players (like you will be if you when you follow the advice in the Texas Help ‘Em guide or in the limit Hold ‘Em guide of your choice) an advantage right out of the shoot. They will be playing the dominated hands and experiencing all of the kicker trouble. It will be their flushes and straights that lose to higher flushes and straights. This is where the money comes from. There is nothing more frustrating that consistently losing to an opponent who seems to always have a higher kicker. That opponent can be you in games with high flop percentages. Many sites will publish a table’s flop percentage. Unfortunately, not all sites do publish this. If you are really dedicated, you can track a table for approximately 20 hands and get a good idea of where it stands. However, I realize many players won’t take the time to do this. In these cases what you can do is begin tracking the flop percentage for the first 20 or so hands after you start playing. If it is high, you are very likely at a lucrative table. If it is low and you have not noticed any poor players during those 20 hands, it might be time to look elsewhere for a game.
Chip Stack Sizes
Another method of table selection that I think is worth mentioning is examining the player’s chips sizes at the table. In general, only poor players will play short stacked. After you read my advice on opponent tracking (not yet available, but coming soon, please check back), you will learn why this is a symptom of a weak player (hence you will NOT play short stacked). Without any other knowledge about a player, their stack size can be remarkably telling. When selecting a table to play at, if I don’t recognize any bad players, don’t have access to table flop percentages, and don’t feel like going to war with a bunch of maniacs (or worse, a bunch of skilled aggressive opponents), I often look for a table with several people playing short-stacked. As I play there and track my opponent's play, I will be able to more accurately stereotype these opponents and I can then choose whether or not I want to continue to play at this table.
Number of Weak Players
Finally, let me cover the best and most lucrative method of table selection. If you only take away one thing from this website, make this be it. Sit at tables with known bad players. Let me repeat this. Sit at tables with known bad players. I cannot overstate the importance of this.
You might be thinking “well how do I know who is a bad player” and “how do I know where these bad players are sitting”. This is information you must obtain over time. As you play, you will be tracking your opponent's play (the Texas Help 'Em guide, available at www.texashelpem.com, provides several suggestions for how to do this). Please keep in mind that tracking your opponent's play is not solely done to be able to precisely predict what cards he currently has. It is done for a variety of reasons. It will allow you to categorize, or stereotype, your opponent into a particular type of player. Yes, one benefit of this stereotype is that it will allow you to better play your hands against them. However, this categorization will also help you in table selection. The easiest player to identify is a really bad player. They play too many hands, repeatedly make bad calls, fail to capitalize on their big hands, etc… As you track your opponent’s play and identify weak players (some like to refer to them simply as "fish"), make a note of them. Most poker sites have some kind of buddy tracking software (e.g. UltimateBuddy is used by UltimateBet, or the Buddy list provided by PartyPoker). Add these players to your buddy list. Over time, your list will grow and provide you with the best means of table selection. Why play against unknown opponents when you can play against known weak opponents?

Now, please understand, I am not a great statistics man and I sure don't have a photographic memory. I also can't read my opponents any better or differently than the next guy. So, what's my secret? How do I play consistently winning poker and avoid losing ANY cash, EVER?
You may be expecting a brilliant way to read your opponent, or a statistics shortcut for determining consistent odds, but the strategy I employ is even simpler than that. Ready for it?
I don't play poker for money.
There, I said it. Probably not what you were expecting and maybe not what you were wanting to read. But that's it and that's all.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE playing poker. There are few games I love playing more. Some of the best and most fun times I have spent with friends and family have been around the poker table. But why does playing poker mean you need to risk your hard-earned cash to enjoy it? Quite simply, it doesn't have to mean that at all. Why not purchase a nice set of poker chips, maybe clay poker chips and a cool poker case and enjoy playing this great game as you would any other great home game.
With friends and family.
In your home, favorite hangout, or even your office.
With great poker chips that you can learn to do fancy tricks with.
And never have to worry about how to explain or reason away the cash you lost to your wife, mother, father, and worst, yourself.
Enjoy playing poker, it is a fantastic game. But why not give it a try playing it for the enjoyment of the game that it is and not for the "potential" windfall it may bring. I think you'll find, like I have, that playing poker without any cash on the line is one of the greatest ways to spend time with those you enjoy being with, without ever leaving the table a "loser", no matter what!

1. A gambling system
No matter what your game, a gambling system is being marketed to turn you into a winner. Unfortunately, 90% of them are built on empty promises and does not work.
So how do you find a system that works? The easiest way is to get a personal recommendation from somebody that you trust, who has used the system with positive results. Otherwise it is a long, hard slog through all the promotional rubbish to find a system that makes sense to you. Don’t just buy the first one that you see. Do your research and find out about the creator’s reputation?
A good system does not only include a gambling system, but also a bankroll system, win/loss criteria and preferably a flexible approach. I can’t stress this enough! I have seen so many people lose their money because they did not have a sufficient bankroll or their system was not flexible enough to change if they were losing.
Your system needs to rely on mathematical and statistical odds to make a consistent profit. If this is the case, the laws of nature are on your side! Sure, the gambler playing on gut feel might win big, but rest assured that he would also lose big.
So now you have a good system and you are raring to go and win some money. WAIT, because you might still lack what I feel is the most important element of a successful gambler. You need the right mindset…
2. The right mindset
At this point some people will stop reading and ignore the “mumbo-jumbo”. To them I say all the best of luck with your gambling and I hope you become successful. But chances are that they won’t. Sure, they might win a few hands/pots, but over the longer term, they will consistently lose.
For those of you still with me, what do I mean by the right mindset?
Well, for starters, don’t see yourself as a gambler. Gambling implies relying on luck to either win big or lose big. See yourself as an investor. You invest your time and money (bankroll) to make a profit.
Believe in your system. This is why it is so important to use a reliable and proven system. You need to be sure that although a session might end in a loss, you will recoup the loss in the next few sessions.
Let us look at an example: In your first session you make a profit of $100. In your second session you make a loss of $200. So your net loss will be $100.
At this point many people quit and whinge about the system not working as it is supposed to. What they don’t realise is that the next three or four sessions might net them $400 profit. So not only do they lose a system that might make them consistent profits, but they lose $100 as well!
Calculate your winnings and losses in units. Why? Well, if you play with $1 chips, then wagering two or three chips (units) is not a big deal. What about playing with $20 chips? All of a sudden you are wagering $40-$60 on a single play. Your mind tells you that you are staking a lot of money, which in turn causes you to have doubts about your system. This is where people start to play too carefully and not follow their system. End result: they lose the money. If your system worked with $1 chips, there is no reason for it not to work with $20 chips. Remember to always wager amounts supported by your bankroll.
3. Casino bonuses
The last weapon in your arsenal is casino bonuses. What a great way of making money by using the casinos’ money against them! Obviously there are a lot of requirements associated with this. I mean, why would the casino give you free money? Discussing these requirements would be and article or two on its own! However, why don’t you sign up for the free e-mail course “How to make consistent profits from gambling” by clicking here – mailto:profits3456@aweber.com. This course will show you how to use casino bonuses to make some extra cash.
If you implement and developed the points mentioned above, you will already be ahead of the majority of gamblers and on well your way to beat the casinos.
Best of luck (although you won’t have to rely on it!)

In fact, playing poker at a casino or brick and mortar poker club is something many women are still hesitant to do. The old chauvanistic male attitudes and visions of smoke-filled backrooms may account for much of this hesitantcy. For whatever reason, ladies have yet to fully embrace the real world poker games in any large numbers.
Online poker is another story. Studies show that over one third of online poker players are female. Women are the fastest growing segment of the online poker playing public. In general, women prefer playing poker online. Playing poker online provides them with a convenient and less intimidating way to learn and become more proficient at the game. Also, women tend to prefer the lower stakes available online.
While men may gamble for the "action" or to compete, women tend to play poker as a means of escape. In general men play to win and women, while competitive, play for more social reasons. Other reasons women cite for preferring online poker include being able to play poker from a safe home environment, not having to get dressed up to play at a casino, being able to play poker in an environment where gender is not an issue.
Playing poker online from her own home is not only safer, it is also more convenient. The female online player can play poker at a time that fits into her busy schedule. The idea of getting dressed up, driving for miles to get to a casino, tipping dealers, waiting for a table, and driving back home after possibly a few drinks is something few women find appealing. Contrast this to relaxing by playing a few hands of online poker at the end of the day and it is easy to see why many more women are choosing to play their poker online.
On final reason many women prefer to play online has to do with the boorish attitudes of some male players. Whether it's the overbearing bigot, the solicitous suitor, or the patronizing patriarch; women just don't want to be bothered with all that.
Online poker provides a perfect solution. The female player can play in an online environment were gender is not an issue. If there is offensive chat, she can simply turn the offenders chat function off with the click of her mouse. She can choose a screen name that doesn't reveal her gender if she so desires.
So, ladies, if you're looking for a safe, convenient place to polish your poker skills, online poker offers great advantages over it's brick and mortar counterparts. Many women women have already discovered the online poker world. Check it out. I think you'll be impressed. Poker's not just for the boys anymore.

You must approach NFL preseason handicapping from a totally different perspective and actually pretend that you are the head coach of the team that you are handicapping, as a head coach in preseason action you must have pre-defined goals of what you want to accomplish during the preseason.
Above all you must never forget that the NFL preseason is actually practice and “Tune up” time for each team to work on their weaknesses from the previous season and of course to take a look at each player on their roster and especially the players that are fighting for starting and backup positions, remember that as a HC you must also whittle down the roster as you go.
I mentioned above that as a HC you really want to use the preseason to practice and perfect any and all changes you made during the offseason in order to fix whatever weaknesses your team had, a simple way to do this is by taking a look at how your team ranked offensively and defensively from the previous regular season.
For example, at the conclusion of the 2004 regular season the final statistics showed Tampa Bay, San Francisco, Miami, and Oakland ranked 29th, 30th, 31st, and 32nd respectively in offensive rushing yards, to correct this the Bucs drafted RB Carnell “Cadillac” Williams, the Niners drafted RB Frank Gore, the Dolphins drafted RB Ronnie Brown and the Raiders made a key free agent pickup of former Jet RB Lamont Jordan.
So, now that we know that these four teams finished in the bottom four slots with regard to total rushing yardage in 2004, and we also know that each team has taken steps to correct this weakness for the upcoming 2005 season, doesn’t it make sense that these four teams will in all likelihood want to practice their running game during the preseason?
The Bears allowed a whopping 66 sacks last year while the Rams allowed the next highest amount of sacks with a total of 59, this of course means that we can probably expect to see a lot of personnel shifting and experimentation along the offensive line for these two teams during the preseason.
Kansas City, Oakland, Tennessee, and Green Bay statistically ranked 32nd, 31st, 30th, and 29th in defensive yardage per pass allowed in 2004, meaning that their deep pass defense was terrible last year, thus I would look for a lot of new schemes and new players to be utilized in the defensive secondary of these four teams during the 2005 NFL preseason.
New Orleans, Miami, St Louis, and Cleveland finished 2004 ranked 29th, 30th, 31st, and 32nd respectively in defensive rushing yards allowed, each of these four teams allowed a whopping 140 yards or more on average to their opponents per game last year, thus you would expect to see these four teams use different people or different combinations of people along their defensive line during the preseason and/or use different blocking schemes or a different style of defense.
On the flip side however, keep in mind that the opposite is just as true with regard to the teams that finished at the top of each offensive and defensive category, these teams will probably be using the same starters from last season and thus will give the backups more playing and practice time during the preseason.
Another key strategy I like to use in preseason action is to know what the QB rotation will be for each team in any given contest, usually this information can be found in the local newspaper of whatever city that team plays in at least a couple of days prior to the preseason game taking place.
If a team has a strong starting QB but a so-so backup QB and rookie third and fourth stringers and they are playing a team that also has a strong QB along with a pretty good backup, a decent third string journeyman and possibly a rookie fourth stringer you can bet that I am going to back the team with the better QB rotation and especially if there are a few other reasons to back this team as well.
If you can pin point a team that has a QB “controversy” going on, meaning a team that has two QB’s vying for the starting job, this can lead to many winning opportunities because of the fact that the HC will want to be viewed as being fair by giving each QB equal playing time with the starting offensive line and starting RB’s and WR’s which of course means that this teams offensive starters will be on the field longer than the other teams defensive starters.
Once you have grown accustomed to analyzing each team in any given preseason match up from the stand point of what each HC wants to accomplish as I have outlined above you will invariably start to notice many winning situations either by wagering on the side or the total in that affair.
In closing, always remember that betting the NFL preseason requires you to recognize a team's needs and also requires an understanding of what a particular HC wants to accomplish before Week One of the regular season rolls around.
Keep in mind that HC’s want to look at the “Fresh Blood”, meaning that teams ranked high in defensive categories from the previous regular season can be involved in very high scoring preseason games, and consequently teams known for high scoring contests can be involved in defensive showdowns because in each instance new players are being looked at.
Remember that passing teams can suddenly become running teams and running teams can suddenly become passing teams, during the NFL preseason teams tend to take a departure from their normal game plans in order to experiment which is why so many bettors lose money trying to handicap the NFL preseason as if it was a regular season contest and thus are convinced there is simply no way to handicap the preseason, but we know better don’t we?

1. Know the basics. Understanding the basics of Roulette is essential for anyone who wants to master the game. The object of Roulette is to pick the winning number that appears on the Roulette wheel. Players can bet combinations of numbers, choose the color, or choose whether the number will be odd or even. There are two types of Roulette wheels. The American wheel has 38 numbers because of a (00) slot. The European wheel has 37 numbers (0-36). In America, the house edge is 5.26 percent, which is significantly higher than Europe’s 2.63.
2. Understand betting in Roulette. There are many bets that can be made in Roulette. The two types of bets are inside bets and outside bets. A Straight Up bet is a bet on a single number. This risky bet pays 35 to 1. Split Bet is a wager on two numbers that pays 17 to 1. While safer than a Straight Up bet, the odds are still against the player. Street bets or a line bet is a bet on a whole row of numbers. This bet pay out is 11 to 1. A Corner bet or Quad bet occurs when the chip is placed so it touches the four corners of the numbers being bet. This bet pays 8 to 1. The Basket bet is the worst bet in Roulette because the house edge is 7.89 percent. It is a five number bet on zero, double zero, and numbers-1-2-3. This bet pays 6 to 1. The final inside bet is a double street bet which is a wager on six numbers paying 5 to 1. The outside bets are the Dozens bet and the Column bet, which are both 12 number bets paying 2 to 1.
3. Know when to bet and how much to bet. The dealer has to keep the wheel moving at all times and spins the wheel in the opposite direction of the ball movement. While the ball is still moving one can place bets. Many players place bets while the ball is in motion because they can grasp a more accurate idea of where the ball will land. Be cautious when doing this, however, because when the ball starts to slow down the dealer will call out “no more bets.” The size of your bet can greatly affect your overall performance. Some players bet too high, which is not advisable in such a game as Roulette. The house edge is high, and so the best bets are moderate. A mass amount of moderate wins is just as good as one big win. However, a few moderate losses are certainly better than one big loss.
4. Play at full roulette tables. Playing at a full table will give you about 30 spins an hour, thusly reducing the time in which your money is exposed to the brutal house edge. Also, do not worry if someone else has already placed chips on a number, there are different colored chips in Roulette so you can place your bet on someone else’s.
There is no sure fire way to win roulette because it is largely a game of chance. However, understanding the game, and being a wise gambler can help increase one’s chances for wins. Full Roulette tables are always the best, and lower risk bets can amount to more than high-risk bets. In the end, Roulette is a game of chance; so a bit of luck is always a good thing to have.

The aim of spider solitaire is to build an ascending suit sequence in the foundation zone. But this is easier said than done! Particularly when playing 4 suit spider, it can sometimes seem nearly impossible to finish the game.
But there are strategies you can use to dramatically increase your chances of winning. But before I go into that, a quick note. In this article, I assume you have a solitaire game that allows multi-undo, and that you don't mind using it. Some people don't have a solitaire program that supports multi-level undo, or feel that using undo is somehow "cheating". These people can still get something out of this article, but not everything they read may apply.
So what is the golden secret to winning spider solitaire?
It's simple! Empty-Columns are the key!
The first objective of spider solitaire is to get a vacant column. The objective after that is to try and get another vacant column. Once you have 2 vacant columns, the game starts to become winnable, but if you can, try and form yet another empty column. Once you get to 3 or 4 empty columns, you have a very good chance of winning, unless you get an extremely unlucky run of cards.
Getting The First Empty Column... The first move you should make in the game is whatever the highest rank card that can play is. If given a choice, play from the stacks on the right hand side, as the 6 right hand stacks start with one less card.
From then on, play cards in this order or priority:
1. If a stack is closer to other stacks to being complete, play that card (if you can)
2. If you can't play from the stack which is closest to being emptied, than play the card with the highest rank.
3. If 2 or more cards have the same high rank, and one of them can be played into a same suit sequence, then play that one.
Keep playing like this, until a column is emptied, or you run out of moves
Once a column has been emptied, the focus of the game changes a little. There are now 3 main objectives, "cleanup", "re-arrange", and "expose". An overriding principal at this time is to try and keep the empty columns. Vacant columns give you a lot more choices in the game, and whenever possible, you only want to fill your empty columns temporarily.
CLEANING UP
The first objective for the second phase of the game is "cleanup". This is my term for re-arranging columns so that they become same-suit sequences.
For example, suppose you had 2 columns. The first one has:
1. 7 Diamonds
2. 6 Hearts
and the second one has:
1. 7 Clubs
2. 6 Diamonds
We can temporarily use the empty column, to rearrange the columns so that these columns become:
1. 7 Diamonds
2. 6 Diamonds
and:
1. 7 Clubs
2. 6 Hearts
We do this by moving:
1. 6 of Diamonds into the empty column
2. 6 of Hearts onto the 7 of Clubs
3. 6 Of Diamonds onto the 7 of Diamonds
The main thing to note here, is that after we have finished cleaning up this sequence, the empty column is still vacant. This is critical, because we always need to keep our columns empty when possible.
RE-ARRANGING
After we have cleaned up any sequences we can find, the next objective is to re- arrange any columns. This is simply moving any sequences we can, to form longer sequences. If moving the sequence will expose a new card (or a card that is not part of the sequence), then we always move it. The rest of the time it's a judgement call, based on whether the new sequence will be the same suit, as well as what other cards are holding up the game at the moment.
EXPOSING
Lastly, we try and expose new cards, whilst trying to maintain our empty column. We do this by using multi-level undo:
* Move a card/sequence into the empty column, which exposes a new card.
* If the new card allows us to move the original sequence back do so.
If the new exposed card does not allow us to move it back, try moving a different card/sequence instead. If you can't expose any new cards whilst keeping the vacant column, then try dealing some cards from the talon.
The most important thing is to create empty columns, and try and keep them empty! Now, will these strategies help you to win every game? No, they won't. Are there better strategies? Yes, and you'll probably come up with some of your own as you play the game some more. But the strategies above should prove a good foundation to help you start winning more games.

5. Handicapping the NFL Pre-season by James Campbell
It never ceases to amaze me just how many sports bettors pass when it comes to wagering on NFL preseason games, the reason probably has more to do with past preseason wagering losses than anything else, in the big picture most simply do not understand that you can not handicap the NFL preseason using the same methods that you use when handicapping NFL regular season games.

In the NFC South look for Tampa Bay and Carolina to catch and over take the Falcons in 2005, the fall from grace will fall on the shoulders of QB Michael Vick who has been to a large extent a product of media hype, sure the guy runs like a deer but so do most wide receivers and that is exactly what Vick is, a wide receiver playing out of position.

20. 2005 NFC East Football Preview by James Campbell
The Eagles once again appear to be the top team in the NFC for 2005, however, I wouldn’t look for them to win 13 games this season due to the fact that each of the other teams in the NFC East should improve this year. A look at the Eagles schedule for 2005 reveals the fact that Philly will face the league’s third easiest schedule when considering the Eagles 2005 opponents combined for a 118-146 straight up record last season.

27. 2005 AFC East Football Preview by James Campbell
In the AFC East I expect to see the Patriots drop off a bit, but not much, the reason for the projected drop off is mainly due to the fact that the Patriots will be without the services of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, both have moved on to head coaching positions, Weis with Notre Dame and Crennel with the Cleveland Browns. Eric Mangini is the new defensive coordinator, while Bill Belichick will be calling the plays on offense himself.

As a new webmaster with a new Online Gambling website, I find this to be some what of a boon and a bane, which is addressed below. The F.C.C. is of course a Federal agency, thinking in that context I didn't consider the State level. Even though Federal laws and regulations supercede State and Local laws, regulations.
How did I come to think about Washington State laws, regulations, when in fact the F.C.C. is in charge of the Internet. Here's what happened!
On 7-7-05 I posted in a Gambling webmasters forum, requesting a 'Site review' and received some constructive advice on my website. Keep in mind that I began uploading site on 6-14-05 so the site had been on the internet for only three weeks. I wasn't receiving any traffic excepting myself and gambling webmasters from the forum and some affiliate managers to whose program I applied.
I had second thoughts about posting in a Gambling webmaster forum, thinking that if the Federal Government wanted to persecute or harass Gambling website owners residing in the (US), a Gambling webmasters forum would be a good place for them to stake-out, so to speak. Also this forum is an organization that deals with Gambling Casino merchants on behalf of Gambling website owners, lots of members.
Hoping to get in the big 3 Search engines I Checked my traffic Statistics, there wasn't much to look at. A section of the statistics page (Country) lists which Countries visitors are coming from. The Country listing looked like this on 7-8-05.

8 Canada

on 7-9-05, Country had one additional entry, US Government, and looked like the following.

2 Unresolved/Unknown
3 US Commercial
4 Non-Profit Organization
5 Israel
6 Australia
7 Seychelles

14 US Government
Looking at the new entry 'US Government' first thing in the morning, my mind began swimming with 'what if's' and my stomach is feeling a little queasy, I couldn't help wondering if I were standing up, would my legs be shaking. Should I have avoided posting in the Gambling webmasters forum and hopefully 'fly under the radar' or is this simply a coincidence, am I just paranoid?
At 7am the coffee is still perking and with this eye-opener my mind is racing, my stomach unsettled. I needed to grab a cup of coffee and a cigarette and head out to the patio for a few moments of reflection. As I stood up and looked out the window directly in front of me, I saw an unmarked white police type cruiser with a plain-clothes driver very slowly cruising past my house.
Now the legs are shaky! my first thought is, should I get some of the dark Rum in the cupboard to fortify my coffee. No its much to early for Rum. On the patio I nervously drag on my cigarette and can only sip on the hot coffee. Cursing myself for not adding the Rum, to at least cool down the coffee. I needed a few quick gulps to replace the uneasy feeling in my stomach with something warm and pleasant.
Questioning the circumstances, a Gambling website, my research, the posting in the forum, 'US Government' visitor in Traffic logs, unmarked police car. Was this just a pair of coincidence's. That was definitely an unmarked car, the type law enforcement uses, not from the EPA or County employees checking their area out. Was the unmarked car federal or could the Feds have contacted local law enforcement to have them check out the website owners address.
I began to wonder if the 'unmarked cruiser' was the Washington State police. Then it dawned on me that even though the FCC is in charge of the Internet, perhaps the State of Washington has laws prohibiting, advertisement of Online Gambling by State residents. I better Check.
I loathe the thought of perhaps spending hours searching the Washington State website for information on, advertising Online Gambling. Well, maybe someone else has done that already, perhaps I should type in 'advertise online gambling Washington' into Yahoo search and hope to find something.
JackPot! the first listing is entitled: Washington State Gambling Commission - Internet/Online Gambling Questions. My luck is running now, nervously scanning the document I find just what I'm looking for.
Can I advertise gaming activities online?
State laws do not prevent the advertising of gaming activities online, as long as the subject of the advertisement is authorized gaming activities. However, other agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commission, may have statutes and regulations that apply. Any of the house-banked or tribal casinos, or bingo operators may advertise on the Internet; however, no one may advertise or solicit citizens of Washington State to wager online.
Well the news isn't bad, but is still basically in the Grey-area, relief. I started wondering if other Online Gambling webmasters located in the State of Washington, had anxious feelings or experiences similar to mine. Prompting me to submit this article with the related url's for them to peruse.
Above I mentioned that the current legal standing Grey-area situation, is some what a boon and a bane for Gambling portal webmasters. People from the U.S.A. inquire in forums about the legality of advertising Online Gambling, all the time.
Boon. This uncertainty keeps many potential Gambling webmasters out of Gambling affiliate marketing. Resulting in less competition for the rest of us, and very importantly keeps Gambling Merchant operators from reducing the compensation aspect of their programs, because of fewer affiliates marketing their program.
Bane. The other side is that the U.S. Government could decide to make advertising Online Gambling explicitly illegal at some time in the future. Thus necessitating Gambling portal webmasters to shut down their websites and lose all the many hours of work they invested in creating, maintaining their websites, not to mention lost income.
Just for the record I'll include my website url:http://www.online-casino-gambling-betting.net

# Ten Easy Tips For Improving Your Online Poker Game by Chip Westley
Here are ten easy tips that can improve yourplay in online poker games. When you play poker online, you have options available that you don't have at the card room or at your regular home game. Taking advantage of these extra options can improve your online poker results. Let's take a look at some things you can take advantage of when playing your poker online.
1. Choose the Right Site- Simple, huh? Play at a site where you feel comfortable. Find a site where the competition is soft and plentiful. Find a site that offers the games or tournaments you are looking for. Finding the right site is a matter of personal preference. Check out several sites and find the one that's right for you.
2. Choose the Right Game- Take advantage of your online poker room's lobby. Most lobbys list such basic information as flop percentage, number of hands played per hour, and average pot size. You can scout the different tables from here. Also, if you have a buddy list; you can search for players that you know to be weak.
3. Have a buddy list- If you play regularly, you'll see some of the same players again and again. You should quickly be able to tell the tendencies of many players. When you find a player whose game you can exploit, put him or her on your buddy list. You'll find plenty of "buddies" if you pay attention.
4. Pay Attention- When you play online it's easy to become distracted. Very easy. Let's see... there's e-mail, the baseball game you're watching out of the corner of your eye, the phone, the kids, the dog. And, since all you have to do to play online is to just fire up the computer, it's easy to play when you are distracted or tired.
5. Play Only When You Are Prepared and Rested- Imagine what an advantage you would have over your average opponent if you just followed this rule. Many players play online on a whim. Maybe they've been online for hours and just impulsively click on their favorite poker site just to unwind. Likely the only thing that will be unwinding is their bankrolls. So give your playing sessions a little bit of thought before you play.
6. Play for only a Set Time or Specific Number of Hands- Don't fall into the trap of "just one more hand" syndrome. Before you start determine a specific time limit or hand limit to give your game focus. Playing for just one more hand has a way of turning into many more hands. And, if your playing with a just one more attitude, I doubt if you're paying much attention or taking any notes.
7. Take Notes- This is a great way to keep your focus when you're not in a hand. Develop your own shorthand for keeping notes. For instance, I might write, "CC w/ junk" (cold calls with junk) if I've noted a player who continually comes in for two bets with hands he shouldn't.
8. Use a Four Colored Deck if Available-Why wouldn't you. The online card icons are much smaller than real world cards. It's easy to mis-read a club for a spade or vice versa. If changing to a 4 colored deck saves you from making one mistake, it's well worth the time it takes to change.
9. Adjust the Chat Feature- Make sure this is set to your preferences. Maybe you like the chat. It keeps you involved and you pick up tells from others chat. Great, leave it on. But if you find yourself in anyway distracted, turn it off. Many sites also let you turn individual player's chat off.
10. Avoid the Auto Functions- If you sometimes use the auto buttons to "Raise Any Hand" when you're strong or "Call Any Hand" when you have a good draw, good observant players will pick up a tell on you. Best practice is to always wait for your turn and try to take the same amount of time to make your play.
There you have ten tips to help your online poker play. Some take a bit of effort. Some just require a one time adjustment of your options. All are pretty simple. But I believe if you follow them, it will help your online game.

While some may argue that the Wire Act pertains to all forms of gambling, others believe that it only refers to sports betting and wagering on sports events. Interpreting the Wire Act to mean that all forms of online gambling are illegal, many banks and financial institutions decided to block online gambling transactions that make use of credit cards. Other online financial services such as paypal.com ceased to process gambling related transactions and most of the major search engines such as yahoo.com and google.com stopped accepting gambling related advertisements.
Although the Department of Justice managed to put a significant dent in the advertising and banking operations of the online gambling industry in the United States, there are currently thousands of online gambling websites operating legally outside the U.S. Furthermore, since most of the online casinos accept numerous offline and online payment methods, one does not require a credit card to play at an online casino.
According the latest online gambling figures, most online casino players are from the United States, and the online gambling industry is continuing to grow at a phenomenal rate from 1.5 billion dollars in 2000 to a projected growth estimate of well over 10 billion dollars for the year 2005. In order for the Department of Justice to make a truly serious dent in the online gambling industry, they would need to convince foreign bodies such as the government of Antigua and Barbuda (a tiny country that processes 25% of online gambling transactions) that online gambling is illegal.
Taking the matter all the way to the World Trade Organisation, the tiny island of Antigua and Barbuda argued that the United States trade policy does not prohibit cross border gambling operations. It also argued that the U.S would be hypocritical to do otherwise since it wants to allow U.S. casinos to operate land-based and Internet-based units overseas.
Meanwhile, the United States argued that regulation was not a viable alternative for prohibition due to five major risks: underage gambling, compulsive gambling, money laundering, possible abuse by organized crime, and the risk of fraud.
On the 7th of April, 2005, the World Trade Organization ruled in favor of Antigua and Barbuda.
"The WTO has now found U.S. prohibitions on Internet gambling improper and discriminatory under global trade rules," Paulsen said. "This WTO ruling means the U.S. will need to regulate, rather than prohibit Internet gaming. It's clear that this will require Internet gaming companies seeking to do business with U.S. consumers to have adequate protections for consumers in place, to deal with such problems as the risk of underage gaming, fraud, and money laundering. The good news is that there are now solutions in the payment system to do just that." Kobus Paulsen, CEO of the UC Group, said on April 7, 2005.
Thus according to the World Trade Organisation, gambling at licensed online casinos and sportsbooks is not illegal. Rather than waging war against the online gambling industry, governmental bodies hostile to online gambling should work towards the regulation and taxation of the online gambling industry, while searching for possible solutions regarding the problems of underage gambling, compulsive gambling, money laundering, possible abuse by organized crime, and the risk of fraud.

(NASDAQ:UBET) said today that on Sunday, July 17 it will stage the first in a series of six qualifying contests where customers can win the right to compete for the $225,000 grand prize awarded to the best handicapper in the 7th annual National Handicapping Championship (NHC VII). The championship is sponsored by the Daily Racing Form and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Last year, a Youbet qualifier was the first digital handicapper to earn the national title and the $200,000 grand prize that went with it. Players this year can enter any or all of the individual contests to win travel and accommodations for NHC VII, which will be held at Bally's Las Vegas on January 27-28, 2006. This Sunday's Youbet qualifying contest features betting on the race card at Delaware Park. Contestants who enter will have Youbet.com accounts and wager real money through win/place bets on at least five separate races. The handicapper who produces the greatest return on his/her wagering investment (ROI) will win a trip to Las Vegas and represent Youbet in NHC VII. Phone wagers are not eligible. The same contest format will be replicated five more times at www.youbet.com before the national event in January. Winners of those five contests - featuring Del Mar on July 30, Monmouth Park on August 7, Mountaineer on August 14, Louisiana Downs on October 1, and Keeneland on October 15 - also will travel to Las Vegas as Youbet's guest to participate in the two-day national championship event. Last year, NHC VI attracted more than 200 handicappers who competed for the national title by placing win/place bets on 30 mythical races. Detroit area native Jamie Michelson, a Youbet qualifier, produced the highest return over the two days to become the first online qualifier to win the event. This year's NHC marks the seventh year that the Daily Racing Form and the NTRA have teamed to give handicappers a chance to win cash and prizes.
